French Food and Flute Ensemble

Please join us for our next Creative Community event as we sample French delicacies and read through flute ensemble music. Food will be prepared by board members, Fran├žois Minaux and Katie Larue. Please bring a stand and any duets, trios, quartets, etc. In the spirit of the season, we will read through an original arrangement called Greensleeves Adrift for flute octet by Bryan Kennard.

If you wish to attend, please RSVP at austinfluteclub@gmail.com as space may be limited. As always, all of our monthly Creative Community events are FREE for members, so please take time and complete your membership information here if you have not yet done so!

Pictured above are Austin Flute Choir members Danelle Sasser, Sally Grant, Penny Griffy, and Dana Prater. The quartet had the wonderful opportunity of helping the Austin Lyric Opera Co. celebrate its Silver (25th) Anniversary on Saturday, November 5th. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's famous opera, The Magic Flute, was performed that weekend as it had been one of the first operas produced in the ALO's infancy. Our flutists performed several selections from the opera itself plus other famous works by Mozart such as "The Marriage of Figaro," "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik," and "Divertimento." They were featured during the cocktail hour in the Kodosky Lounge of the Long Center.
